Well diffusion test results
In the preliminary well diffusion test, only lichen extract was shown to have a strong antibacterial effect against S. epidermidis. It also inhibited the growth of P. fluorescens to a smaller extent than S. epidermidis. None of the extracts tested was inhibitory towards E. coli. The results are shown in Figures 7 and 8 below.

Wells were filled with (1) 10% bleach (positive control), (2) 50% ethanol (negative control), (3) cranberry extract and (4) lichen extract. Only lichen extract was strongly inhibitory towards S. epidermidis and slightly inhibitory towards P. fluorescens.
